Accomplished Women (2022)

"Accomplished Women" is a piece for three female performers; a soprano, a dancer, and a percussionist. The work also uses an audio track which includes both speech and music. "Accomplished Women" is inspired by the extract "An Accomplished Woman" from Jane Austen's novel "Pride & Prejudice", and aims to explore and question the view of women both then and now. The project is based on research into the art of embroidery, dance history, theories on women, and current statistics.

SOS FROM THE KITCHEN SINK DEPARTMENT (2021)

"SOS From The Kitchen Sink Department" is a one-woman percussion show created by Maria Rullestad Teigen.

The project intends to make classical and contemporary music more accessible and interesting for a younger audience by combining music with humor and storytelling. The audience is also invited to take part in the performance and perform a contemporary piece for cymbals together.

PADDLE & ROLL (2020)

"Paddle & Roll" is not only a solo piece for percussion and tap dance by Maria Rullestad Teigen, but also a pedagogical project. The aim is to borrow technique exercises and steps from tap dance to further develop the footwork in percussion. The exercises were tested by percussion students over a 4 week period and gave positive results. The students who participated noted that they experienced less pain when using pedals than they previously had.
