ABOUT
Norwegian percussionist Maria Rullestad Teigen has participated as a soloist and chamber musician at multiple festivals in Scandinavia. She is a musician and composer who crosses and explores the boundaries of the percussion art form. She has a master's degree from the Royal Academy of Music Aarhus/Aalborg, where she also gained a large interest in composing.
In 2015 she placed 3rd in DNB's National Soloist Competition during the Fjord Cadenza Festival for her performance of Daniel Berg's "Toccata" on solo marimba.
In 2020 she premiered her original work "Paddle & Roll - solo for snare drum and tap dance", a piece which demands of it's performer to play percussion and tap dance simultaneously.
Maria is also a singer-songwriter, and participated in MGPjr with her song "På grunn av deg" in 2010.

LIVE PERFORMANCES
Maria has participated on various projects and festivals in collaboration with other musicians and as a solo performer. She has worked in the orchestra for musicals, theater, children's operas, and in concert. Maria has also worked for big bands, marching bands, and in pop/rock settings. In addition she has vast experience working with chamber music and contemporary music, and was a soloist for the Scandinavian premiere of Marta Snyadi's "In the pink" during the Percussion Plus Festival in 2018.
